When I was a little kid, I would watch Science shows. I remembered the phrase, "Newton's Apple, Understanding the World Around You." Then later I heard someone saying that he hates rote learning, and rather prefers to think in concepts. So I made a phrase to describe myself, "I'm just trying to conceptualize the world around me." I know it doesn't sound very good, but I made it to express my feelings. So one time I was with one of my roommates and I told him, "I'm just trying to conceptualize the world around me." He then laughed at me and said, "Nope, not from a book." Me, "I didn't get that from a book." Him, "Not from a book." I don't understand, if you told someone that you're going to eat breakfast, how would you feel if someone said, "Nope, breakfast is found in a dictionary"? Later that day, my roommate laughed and said, "I'm going to be creative," then he quoted lines from the movie Princess Bride. You hear people every once in a while quote lines from that movie for their own entertainment, and I'm sure those lines are found in a book. Ok so I was window shopping in the mall a week or so back. I used to love Legos when I was growing up and I'm a movie fan so I walked in a Lego store to look at Indiana Jones toys. This young woman about my age showed me where they were and told me she had just watched the films for the first time a week before. We joked briefly about how its good certain toys weren't around when we were young or our parents would have gone broke. A few days went by and for some reason I was motivated to put up a CL Missed Connection ad. Never done it before, but she seemed interesting. Nothing too deep. I'll go on the record here and say that even at 21 years old, I haven't had many dates, and nothing that could qualify as a relationship. Alright. I purchased the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas" dvd, and I downloaded it onto Itunes. I made sure that I did EVERYTHING right, and then when I clicked to play the movie, the screen is gray. What is the name of that movie where an Asian guy is on a journey to find himself? It is black and white, I saw it in the early eighties. He has to go from place to place and pass successive tests to find the next clue (or whatever) to get him ultimately to some master who will show him who he really is. Kung Fu Panda ripped off part of it in that in the end, to find himself he gets to open a book. The book is just pages of mirrors and thus he finds out who he is. The only other scene I remember is a funny scene where he encounters this guy who has been sitting in a vat of oil or something in order to shrivel his male member to nothing and comments something like "look a mere pimple" in order to achieve celibacy. well there this guy that ive like for 4 years now. one of my best friends is a really good friend with him. THEN a month went by and a bunch of us were having a weekend sleepover (guys and girls) because i leaving the weekend after. well he came to it and we were watching movies and he got all snuggled up to me and the next day a couple of people had to go to this event for a few hours so it was just me him and my best bud. the three of us were laying on my bed hiding from the rest of the world. well my best bud fell asleep. we were talking then he kissed me. well then we started holding hands at school the next week and spent to whole week pretty much together. then i left and he moved to the coast and we disided to be just friends. well we didnt talk much then a bout a week and half ago he started talking to me and saying some stuff (some clean and sweet & some dirty)and also wanting to know when i was heading home for a visit next and all. to the question, i dont know if he really wants to be with me or hes just using me when he gets lonely or wanted to leave home with a bang. my friends are pretty much half and half on this. i really need help cause i have feelings for him and i dont want to get all wrapped up in him agian and then get crushed. but i also dont want to stop talking to him and find out he really has feelings for me. i asked him and he said he has feelings but i dont really know cuzz well we are 22 hours apart, living in two differnt provinces and time zones, and we havent seen each other in 5 months. also im 18 now and im tired of all that teen love stuff and want a really relationship. does he sound like the right one to have a actually relationship with. oh please help me. im so confused on this one. moreOpen Question: Starting A Small Cinema?

I am 23 years old now and I recently took some low level, part time job at a movie theater. Mostly just selling popcorn (don't worry, I am getting my PhD in psychology right now, so this isn't my career). As with all of these kids of jobs, the managers like to yell at people for arbitrary reasons, most frequently the youngest of the employees. Probably so these managers can feel powerful. I often find that when the managers or supervisors are trying to push me around, I just act (and feel) completely unaffected by it. Now matter what these managers say to me (not that this is an everyday thing), I just constantly show that I am in a good mood and am in no way intimidated by them. For example, yesterday, i got yelled at going on lunch at the wrong time. The entire time, I acted very relaxed and by the end, I had taken over the conversation and ended it when I wanted to. I didn't argue back or act upset at all. Do you think that is the best way to deal with people like that? Anytime someone acts difficult, just act calm, collected, and confident while not letting them affect your mood, at all? It has a variety of nasty social effects, but it goes on because somebody is making money out of it, a greed no less heinous than the oil companies, only split up into millions of bodies. And yet, when you take a set of assorted Third-World people in their own country and allow them to immigrate to the developed world, the same number of people are going to produce more carbon. Shouldn't we impose a carbon-tax on that? It would amount to hundreds of dollars for every expected year of further lifespan in a developed country. There is a hidden cost to manufacturing and oil refining, a cost to the environment that the corporations tried to foist off on other people. It is the same for immigration. If the true cost of immigration were figured in like this, no one would afford to immigrate!
