ok well the sims 2 works on it, but i wanted to get the new one, it looks interesting and i was going to delete the sims 2 if i do end up getting it i have windows vista btw BUT THIS IS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GAME: FOR WINDOWS VISTA Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent 1.5 GB RAM At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least: Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA X3000 or above. 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent 0.5 GB additional RAM SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS NVIDIA GeForce series FX 5900, FX 5950 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800 9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280 ATI Radeon™ series 9500, 9600, 9800 X300, X600, X700, X800, X850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 2400, 2600, 2900 3450, 3650, 3850, 3870 4850, 4870 Intel® Extreme Graphics GMA X3x00 series Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Intel integrated chipsets featuring underclocked parts will not perform adequately. Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily. Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn't listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all. Hardware Windows Dell E6400: * Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor * 14.1" WXGA+ LCD * 160 GB Hard Drive * 256MB NVIDIA Video Card * 8X DVD+/-RW * 2 GB RAM * Integrated 10/100 Network Card * 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless card * Integrated VGA webcam * Battery 9 cell - Lithium Ion * A/C Adapter * Network Cable * 4 GB USB Flash Drive Software Windows: * Windows XP Pro Operating System * MS Office 2007 * MS FrontPage 2003 * Adobe Reader * Internet Explorer * McAfee Virus Scan * QuickTime Above is all my computer information. Recently I have started having problems with my laptop. The first time anything happened was last Saturday when I had had my computer on for a few hours. I had not been using it, it had been in sleep mode, but the laptop was very hot, the hottest I have ever felt. I woke the laptop up and I was able to use it for about 5 minutes until all these green lines showed up on the screen and the computer froze. I allowed the computer to cool down and turned it back on after about 10 minutes. However, the screen became very blurry and had a green hue to it. I turned it off and waited a few hours. Everything loaded perfectly after that but about 10 minutes into using my laptop the green lines showed up again even though the laptop was not hot, it was not even warm. The computer froze and then suddenly all the green lines became pink. This has been happening ever since Saturday night but right now I am using a cooling pad which is allowing me to use the laptop for as of right now 20 minutes without any problems. Any ideas of what may have happened or what I need to do. I have a feeling it is either the cooling system or the video card but I am no computer expert. Anyone with any ideas or tips please post them as soon as possible. Thanks.  more

Voting Question: I'm looking into the D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router..but my adapters are all wireless G & 802.11..?

I'm getting a new router because my linksys WRT54G keeps dropping connection forever & ever, until I unplug it and then it'll eventually work again. I understand that the N technology is much much faster, than G. So will my linksys adapter wireless - G 802.11 be any faster with the new router? I already know that the D-Link is backwards compatible with all B & G adapters, but I want to know if it'll be any faster or not.  more

Resolved Question: FFXI graphics are messed up...?

I have installed both Warhammer online and FFXI on my Toshiba Satellite model A305-S6858 which has Vista on it. Warhammer looks fine however FFXI isn't looking correct with mostly the characters and mobs in the game. They flicker and appear to only show some of the colors or all the colors and parts of the character or mob are missing. I'm not sure what settings I need to change if I can to make this work correctly. I have installed the newest DirectX and video drivers and still not working properly and this is even after I reinstalled the OS. Which I did for other reason. I am probably giving more info than needed or maybe not enough.. However if someone can direct me the direction needed to get this solved I would be most greatful! Thanks ahead of time! Its a specail fix for the graphic issue I am having...so if anyone knows of where I can find it that would be great! Untill then I will keep searching. Thanks! A friend of mine found a link on intels site that has the 64 bit version downloadable. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2800&lang=eng If link wont work, just do the following: You go to Intels main page click downloads under work section. (takes you to a new window) Select "Graphics" on the left side Select "laptop graphic contollers" Select "Mobile Intel 965 express chipset family" (takes you to a new window) Just select the OS and go from there. As of last night they did have the vista home premium for downloading. I am not sure for the othe other os downloads. Hope this helps out! When I edit the question stating about the 64 bit driver being found, that was when I had the issue resolved... So thanks to you all for replying. Just glad I can play now with graphics back to normal.  more

Resolved Question: Best way to move files from desktop to laptop?

I just bought a new laptop to replace an aging desktop system. I'd like to move about 100 gigabytes of documents from the desktop to the laptop. I understand I can use either a ethernet crossover cable, or some kind of USB cable. Both computers have 802.11 g adapters. Which of these is the best? I'd like to use software already included with Windows, or some that is freely available. Can't afford much beyond the price of the cables right now. I agree, a USB hard drive would probably be the best solution. But I can't afford one this month and can't wait any longer to transfer the data. Is there a software only solution, or one that would only require the purchase of an inexpensive cable? Both have 802.11g. Is that sufficient?  more

Resolved Question: Network adapter randomly disappears, please help!?

My laptop is a Compaq Presario F503AU running a Broadcom wifi adapter. Since reformatting from Vista and installing XP, my wireless network adapter has been randomly disappearing from Device Manager (the entire "Network adapters" list disappears). When selecting "Show hidden devices" I can see a bunch of random adapters and a "Broadcom 802.11 g/b - Miniport Packet Scheduler". ipconfig /all (and all other commands in command prompt) give the same message, "Windows IP Configuration" and nothing else at all. Sometimes the adapter starts up, and sometimes it doesn't, safe mode does nothing different. This has also happened on my sisters laptop whose I reformatted with using the same xp disc. What could be the problem and fix? This is really important considering all my uni work is done via the internet and else I cannot submit assignments. could it be that I need to upgrade the bios? all I know is my bios is phenoix and version F.4 or something similar. In the bios there are no controls for turning on/off network adapter either... although sometimes if i press F10 to reset default settings and reset computer, it sometimes helps start it up... ps i dont know how to update my bios or where to get the update from... ALSO, after reformatting i installed all drivers supplied by laptop manufacturer website for correct model laptop. drivers installed fine.  more

Resolved Question: My new laptop keeps losing wireless connection?

I just got a new laptop with windows vista. It has a Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g wireless adapter. When I turn the computer on, the internet initially works just fine, but after about 10 minutes or so I lose connection to the internet. I check the available wireless networks and it shows all of the available networks as having a strong connection, but the internet does not work. In addition, all other devices hooked up wirelessly to the network (only about one or two other items) get disconnected and the only way to fix the problem is to reset the router and the modem (but the internet goes out again in another 10 minutes). The internet did not cut out like this before I started using my laptop. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this and how I can get a permanent fix for it? If you need extra information just ask.  more
